Tooth Fairy Pillow

I am trying to make the tooth fairy pillow and the tooth part says to chain 31 to make the tooth. on the 1st round you are suppose to end up with 60 stitches. This does not make any sense to me. can someone please let me know what I am doing wrong.

Check out the links below on this page (you are crocheting into both sides of the foundation chain).

Thanks for you reply. What i am confused about is this. First I chain 31, then sc in the back bar (what is meant by that?) The top loop? Also what is meant by working in the opposite side of the foundation? Round 2 to 10 says to do it twice, but it is row 2 to 10. I am new to this pattern stuff as I usually watch a video on youtube so I can follow along. Thanks !

There are videos on youtube

Crochet in opposite side of foundation chain

going aroind back bar

When you go around the back of the bar(or post) which is probably a dc or tr. Bring hook thru from back to front on left side of the stitch(or right side if you're anded I'm a lefty) around the front of the stitch and back thru the right side(or left for right hand)pick up the loop pull all the way thru and finish the sc. Hope this helps

made this pillow in a couple of hours

This is a great little pillow. Instead of using the black plastic eyes, I had a couple big black plain buttons lying around.

I really want to make this but I am havimg trouble understanding the instructions.

Do I first chain 20 or 31? I am trying to figure out if I have to make the guage swatch first and then go to the Tooth instructions. Please help. Thanks.

Do I chain 20 or 31?

You would chain 31. The "chain 20" is for your gauge. Make sure you make your gauge to help guide you during your project. Before you know it, you will be stuffing your pillow! Have fun and good luck!

"How to make a gauge swatch"

"How to make a gauge swatch" is printed first in all our patterns, but since the size for this little pillow is not crucial, you could just start with the main instructions. If your gauge is different, your pillow may come out a larger or smaller than ours.

Animated Crochet Monsters

I love little crochet characters like this one. It reminds me of a crochet stop motion animation I recently saw on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9PUt3qd8-Y1oI4eguxtuVreMZ_o6Wj8o (not for kids though!)
