Help!

I have crocheted for over 20 years and I am stuck on this pattern. I don't understand how to connect the FSC Ch1 additions on the Shape Front neck and corners... Someone please give me some guidance. I have never had this kind of issue. I can usually figure it out, but this is really confusing. Am I missing something? is there a helpline # to call?

Connecting the FSC in Shape Front Neck and Corners

Hi -- I think I can help with this one.  You already have the yoke made, and you've fastened off the yarn from that.  Now you start with fresh yarn ... FSC 5.  Now, the instructions say to make a Shell into the first DC of the yoke.  YO, insert hook into the first DC of the yoke, YO and draw up a loop, YO and draw through 2 loops, YO and draw through 2 loops (first DC made of the shell).  Make two more DCs into the same stitch.  It's weird, but it works.

Hope this helps!!

Attaching Yoke to Motifs

I thought I was an advanced crocheter, but am struggling with attaching the motifs to the yoke/body, any ideas that would get me back on track?   Thanks!

Attaching Motifs

Hi there,

Did you leave markers along the body where instructed?  You should have two markers 12 rows down from where you stopped stitching all the way around -- one in the front, and one in the back.  You'll be slip stitching the motif around Ch3 or DC "posts" along the sides, and around CH stitches across the top.

Right-handed stitchers ... for the first motif, Round 6 you're stitching the first side normally.  When you get to the first corner, you stitch half of a corner, Ch1 and then slip stitch into the post of the marked row's stitch.  Then Ch2 and stitch 3 DCs back into the Round 5 corner of your motif.  Every few stitches, the pattern has you sl st into the body to the right of your motif, then return to stitching into your motif.  This attaches the motif to the body at every-other body row, going up the back of the piece.  When you turn the next corner, now you are attaching your motif at the top, to the underarm area.

Left-handed stitchers (like me) ... You're going clockwise instead of counterclockwise.  In the schematic, swap positions for the first and third motifs, and swap positions for the second and fourth motifs.  Then you can follow the directions for the first motif as written ... stitch side one of Round 6, then at the corner connect with sl st to the marked row on the front of the piece.  You are attaching side two of your motif to the body, going up the front of the piece.  When you turn the next corner, now you are attaching your motif at the top, beneath the keyhole neckline.

HTH!

Sorry for delay, I did leave

Sorry for delay, I did leave the markers, but was just having a challenge for some reason, finally got it and appreciate your kind instructions!!!!

Thanks Dianna. I wish I had

Thanks Dianna. I wish I had the magazine with me right now. You're input does help. I figured it was talking about the sizes. So where it says something like "fsc (31, 33, etc.)" then it means that you fsc 31 times - or more depending on the size you are making?

I'm gonna have to bring it with me next time I'm online, because I definitely have more questions, but not sure how to word them without having it in front of me.

Has anyone had any trouble

Has anyone had any trouble with this pattern? I would say I'm an experienced crocheter, but I don't think I've worked with any like this - there are several sizes mentioned - then there are several A, B, and C options/instructions. It's also confusing with all the things like "fsc (21, 33, 33, 33, 35)". I understand the fsc, but I don't know what the rest means - if it's for sizing, then why are numbers repeated?

I can't figure out where to begin or end with this one. If anyone can shed some light on this one, please do!

Thanks,
Dana

The numbers in parenthesis correspond to the sizing. I find it helpful to find my size at the beginning of the pattern and circle the corresponding number throughout the pattern. I saves on confusion later on.

Although I have not attempted the pattern yet, I have read through it and I think you begin at the part that starts at YOKE. You skip the parts of the pattern that do not apply to your size. For instance, I am a large, so I will skip the part that says SIZES XS(S) only and work only the sizes that apply to my size unless otherwise instructed in the pattern. In most patterns I find that the instructions become more clear when I am actually working on that part of the pattern.

I hope this was helpful and if all this was already obvious to you, sorry.
