Pacific Beach Cap

I subscribed to Crochet Today on behalf of my sister-in-law who requires the correction to the above pattern. Though she receives the hard copy version of the magazine, she no longer has access via the website (she did in the past).  Please email updated correction to vaughtrose@gmail.com or advise what future magazine this correction was provided. She has also extended her subscription to M/A 2015.  Thank you.

having trouble with the swatch for this

On row 3, it says there should be 25 stitches. On the previous row there are 9 Esc and 8 spaces to work into. How does that come to 25? Please help, as I really want to make this hat but don't want to move ahead til my gauge is correct.
