Hang on to your mittens the old-fashioned way—by attaching them together with string! The two-color stitch pattern makes these handwarmers extra special.
YARN
STITCH NATION Washable Ewe, 3.5oz/100g balls, each approx 183yd/167m (superwash wool)
- 1 ball #3667 Green Apple
- 1 ball #3706 Zinnia
OR
- 1 ball #3525 Dragonfly
1 ball #3501 Robin’s Egg
CROCHET HOOKS
- Size E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook crochet hook (for small size)
- Size G/6 (4.0mm) crochet hook (for large size)
NOTIONS
- Stitch markers
- Yarn needle
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Length from wrist to fingertip Approx 9.75 (11)"/ 25 (28) cm
Circumference around hand 7.75 (8)"/ 19.5 (20.5) cm
GAUGE
Two 7-dc cl and 8 rows in pattern = 4.25 (4.5)"/11 (11.5) cm wide x 3.25 (3.75)"/ 8.5 (9.5) cm high

Additional Instructions for Large Adult Size
The pattern as given in the magazine fits Small to Medium Adult hands. The additional instructions below are for mittens to fit Large Adult hands.
Size Approx 11"/28 cm from wrist to fingertip; 8"/ 20.5 cm circumference around hand
Gauge Using size G/6 (4.0mm) crochet hook, gauge should measure:
Two 7-dc cl and 8 rows in pattern = 4.5"/11.5 cm wide x 3.75"/9.5 cm high
Rows 1-31 of Cuff = 2.5"/6.5 cm wide x 7"/18 cm long
To Make Large Mitten
Follow pattern as given for the Cuff and Body through Round 16 of Body of Mitten. Then work as follows:
Rounds 17 and 18 Repeat Rounds 13 and 14.
Round 19 Repeat Round 3.
Round 20 Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in joining sl st, sk ending 3-dc Cl, [sk next 3 chs, sc in next 3 sc, sk next 2 chs, 5 dc in next ch, sk 7-dc Cl] 3 times, sk next 3 chs, sc in next 3 sc, sk next 3 chs, 2 dc in joining sl st, drop B to wrong side; with A, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch-3—20 dc and 12 sc. Fasten off B, leaving a 6"/15cm tail.
Round 21 Ch 1, turn; sc in same ch as joining, sc in next st, [5-dc Cl, sc in next 3 sts] 3 times, 5-dc Cl, sc in last st; join with sl st in first sc—4 5-dc Cl and 12 sc.
Round 22 (Right side) Ch 1, do NOT turn; starting in same st as joining, sc in each Cl and sc around; join with sl st in first sc—16 sc.
Round 23 Ch 1, starting in same st as joining, [sc2tog] 8 times; join with sl st in first sc—8 sc. Fasten off, leaving a 10"/25.5cm tail.
Using yarn needle, weave tail through front loop of remaining 8 sts. Pull tight to close top of mitten and secure.
Thumb for Large Mitten
Round 1 With right side facing, join A with sl st in marked ch on Round 9, 2 sc around post of next marked st; working in unworked sts on Round 8, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, dc in next 5 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 sts; working in Round 9, 2 sc around post of next marked st, sc in same ch as joining—16 sts. Do not join, but work in a spiral. Insert stitch marker in last st and move up to last st in each round as work progresses.
Rounds 2-8 Sc in each st around—16 sc.
Round 9 [Sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog] 4 times—12 sc. Do not fasten off.
Finish by working the instructions for All Sizes as given in the pattern.
