RED HEART Boutique Changes, 3.5oz/100g skeins, each approx 187yd/171m (acrylic/woo/other fibers)
• 2 skeins #9403 Granite

CROCHET HOOK
• Size J/10 (6.00mm) crochet hook or any size to obtain correct gauge

NOTIONS
• Yarn needle

HOW TO MAKE A GAUGE SWATCH
Ch 16.
Row 1 Dc in 4th ch from hook (first half shell made); *sk next 2 chs, sc in next ch, sk next 2 chs*; shell in next ch; repeat from * to * once; 2 dc in last ch (last half shell made)—1 shell and 2 half shells.
Row 2 Ch 3, turn; dc in first dc, sk next sc, shell in ch-2 sp of next shell, sk next sc, sk next dc on last half shell, 2 dc in first skipped ch at beginning of Row 1. .
Rows 3-5 Ch 3, turn; dc in first dc, shell in ch-2 sp of next shell, sk next dc on last half shell, 2 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch-3. Resulting gauge swatch should measure approx 3 1/2"/9cm wide x 4"/10cm high. If necessary, adjust hook size to obtain correct gauge.

First Half
Ch 184.
Row 1 (right side) Working in back bar of chs, dc in 4th ch from hook (first half shell made); *sk next 2 chs, sc in next ch, sk next 2 chs**; shell in next ch; repeat from * across, ending last repeat at **; 2 dc in last ch (last half shell made)—29 shells and 2 half shells.
Row 2 Ch 3, turn; dc in first dc; *sk next sc, shell in ch-2 sp of next shell; repeat from * across to last sc; sk last sc, sk next dc on last half shell, 2 dc in first skipped ch at beginning of Row 1.
Rows 3-5 Ch 3, turn; dc in first dc; *shell in ch-2 sp of next shell; repeat from * across to last 2 dc; sk next dc on last half shell, 2 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch-3. Fasten off.

Second Half
Row 1 With right side facing and Row 1 at top, working in free loops of foundation ch, join with sl st in first ch, ch 3, dc in same ch as joining (first half shell made); *sk next 2 chs, sc in next ch, sk next 2 chs**; shell in next ch; repeat from * across, ending last repeat at **; 2 dc in next ch (last half shell made)—29 shells and 2 half shells.
Rows 2-5 Work same as Rows 2-5 on First Half. At end of Row 5, do not fasten off.

Border
Ch 1, do not turn; (sc, ch 2, sc) in top of last dc on Row 5; *working around post of dc or in turning ch-3 sps across edge of rows on both halves, sc in edge of Row 5, (sc, ch 3, sc) in edge of Row 4, sc in edge of Row 3, (sc, ch 4, sc) in edge of Row 2, sc in edge of Row 1, (sc, ch 5, sc) in foundation ch, sc in edge of Row 1, (sc, ch 4, sc) in edge of Row 2, sc in edge of Row 3, (sc, ch 3, sc) in edge of Row 4, sc in edge of Row 5; working across Row 5, (sc, ch 2, sc) in 3rd ch at beginning of row, sc in next dc; **sl st in sp before next shell, ch 2, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp of next shell, ch 2; repeat from ** across; sl st in sp before last half shell, sc in next dc***, (sc, ch 2, sc) in last dc; repeat from * across other 2 edges, ending at ***; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.

TIP
To make scarf longer or shorter, add or remove foundation chains in multiples of 6.

The yarn Changes actually

The yarn Changes actually "changes" color and type as you crochet--there are six different textures in the skein, and the colors vary slightly also.

Beautiful scarf! In the picture it looks like there is another yarn used with a green tone to it. Also, what makes the fuzzy stuff, is that another yarn for border?
