behind the scenes: small world!
We just shipped our January/February issue to the printer, which means in a few weeks it will be bound and sent out to our subscribers! We thought we'd do a few "behind the scenes" blog posts leading up to its release.
For the January/February issue, we have a whole story devoted to projects for men. More about that in another post. . . . But to shoot those projects we went on location in the West Village of New York City. We scouted out a spot where a few small streets intersect, attained a permit, and were set up on the side of the road shooting away. Passersby gave a peek to see what was going on, but no one stopped to investigate.
Then a group of women came by who were curious enough to ask who we were and what we were doing. We somewhat noncommittally said we were shooting for a "crochet magazine," but they weren't satisfied with that. When we said Crochet Today, we were greeted by a cry of recognition: Joan (in the pink hat) is a subscriber!

Brett (with sunglasses), who had been helping style the blanket we were shooting, rushed over to meet with her and pose for a picture. Joan told us about some of the recent projects she'd made out of the magazine—Brett always gets a kick out of people who make her designs, and Joan had recently made Brett's snake!

We're thrilled they were bold enough to talk to us, because we love meeting our fans!
